Terms and Conditions

Estimates and Quotes

Estimates are valid for 15 days from the date issued. Prices are based on the scope of work described and on conditions visible at the time of the estimate. Hidden or unforeseen conditions (for example, concealed wiring, damaged or non-code-compliant existing work, asbestos, or inaccessible areas) may change the price. An estimate is not a contract until signed or accepted in writing by the customer and approved by Hooser Brothers Electric (HBE).

Scope of Work and Change Orders

Work is limited to what is listed on the estimate or invoice. Any additional or changed work must be approved by the customer in writing (email or text counts) before it begins. Change orders may affect price and schedule. Work requested verbally on site may be billed at our standard rates.

Payment Terms

  • A deposit of 40% is due at signing for jobs over $1500. Deposits are applied to the final invoice.
  • Progress payments may be required on larger projects, as stated in the estimate.
  • Balance is due upon completion regardless of the due date indicated on the invoice. Typical residential customers upon completion of said work. Commercial customers are net 30.
  • Accepted payment methods: [cash, check, credit/debit card, ACH]. A[3]% fee may apply to card payments.
  • Returned checks are subject to a $55 fee.

Materials

Material prices are subject to change based on supplier pricing. Material costs quoted may be adjusted if the supplier price changes before purchase. Special-order and custom items are non-refundable. Materials remain the property of HBE until paid in full.

Permits, Inspections, and Code Compliance

Unless stated otherwise, HBE will obtain required electrical permits, and permit fees will be billed to the customer. Work will be performed in accordance with the National Electrical Code and applicable local codes. Work required to correct existing code violations or to bring existing systems up to current code is not included unless listed. Inspection scheduling is controlled by the local authority, and delays outside our control do not constitute a breach.

Customer Responsibilities

The customer agrees to provide safe, clear access to the work area, including electrical panels; to identify any known hazards; to secure pets and move valuables; and to provide working utilities as needed. Delays caused by lack of access (minimum a trip charge $175-$225 based on location) or customer-ordered materials may result in additional charges.

Power Interruptions and Property

Temporary power shutoffs are often required. The customer is responsible for protecting sensitive electronics, computers, and medical equipment, and for backing up data. We take reasonable care to protect the property, but some drywall, paint, or finish damage may occur when accessing wiring in walls and ceilings. Patching, painting, and finish repair are not included unless listed.

Schedule

Dates provided are estimates. Weather, supplier delays, inspection timing, utility company scheduling, and unforeseen conditions can affect timelines. HBE is not liable for delays beyond its reasonable control.

Warranty

Workmanship is warranted for 1 year from the completion date. Manufacturer warranties apply to materials and equipment, and we will help you with claims. This warranty does not cover damage from misuse, power surges, lightning, flooding, modifications by others, normal wear, or work not performed by HBE. The warranty is void if the invoice is not paid in full.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the liability of HBE is limited to the amount paid for the work giving rise to the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including lost income, spoiled food, or loss of use. HBE carries general liability insurance and workers' compensation coverage; certificates are available on request.

Cancellation

The customer may cancel before work begins with written notice. Costs already incurred (materials ordered, permits, design or site visit time) will be billed.

Liens

If payment is not made in full, HBE reserves the right to file a mechanic's or materialman's lien against the property as permitted by state law.

Disputes

The customer agrees to notify HBE in writing of any concern within 10 days of completion and to allow a reasonable opportunity to correct it before seeking other remedies. Disputes will be governed by the laws of the State of Alabama, with venue in Madison County.

Acceptance

Signing an estimate, paying a deposit, approving work in writing, or allowing work to begin constitutes acceptance of these terms.
